We Were Dangerous: Film

Locations and Transport Coordinator | 2022

A film by Piki Films with Executive Producer Taika Waititi, about a fiery trio of delinquent school girls railing against the colonial system 1950’s New Zealand.

The movie was filmed on location in Ōtautahi, Christchurch in collaboration with Te Hapū O Ngāti Wheke, the mana whenua of the lands used. The use of Te Reo Māori was widely encourage on set and in documentation and the production created job opportunities for locals.

Locations included Camp Bay, Whakaraupō | Lyttelton Harbour, Ōtamahua | Quail Island and historic sites Rāpaki School, Ferrymead Heritage Park, Riccarton House and The Pumphouse.

My Involvement Included

  • Acquire film permits and DOC approval
  • Manage budget and expenses for all locations
  • Manage location agreements and uphold terms
  • Coordinate with all departments to transport production and art equipment to island location
  • Coordinate with ferry provider for transport of all cast and crew to island
  • Coordinate with boat provider for transport and health and safety during on water filming
  • Support Unit team with site plans, locations and setup
  • Coordinate catering deliveries and swing drivers
  • Liaise with locations to update shoot days
  • Scout venues for alternative shoot locations
