Northern Bass: Green Team
Green Team Assistant Manager | 2023/24
Northern Bass is an annual 3-day and night New Year celebration held in the summer hot spot of Mangawhai in Northland, bringing world-class musicians, DJs and producers to the multi-stage festival.
The Green Team helps Northern Bass run the onsite campground and meet the festivals’ sustainability goals while spreading good vibes. Heading up a team of 90 volunteers, they focus on waste mitigation initiatives such as onsite waste sorting, composting and reusable cups. They assist campers to transport their equipment, set up tents, provide Green Camp for sustainable campers and preset tents.
The 2023/24 event experienced unprecedented rain creating excessive mud on site that posed challenges for the delivery teams.
My Involvement Included
- Coordinate setup, operation and pack down of Camp Hub
- Manage team leaders and volunteers
- Check in/out volunteers for their shifts
- Coordinate catering for staff and volunteers
- Improve processes and systems for daily operation
- Coordinate with festival security, operations and maintenance
- Problem solve issues
